Wednesday’s Shoe

leopard-pigalle-pumpsgwen-stefani-12This “Wednesday’s Shoe” is a staple of Gwen Stefani’s looks – a pair of leopard pumps she sports in her 2005 music video, “Cool.”  While rolling around her satin bedsheets, she sings about her lost love in an adorable navy and white outfit, topped off with these Christian Louboutin heels.  The Pigalle pumps have a 1950s feel, just like most of her music video does.  Made of dyed pony hair, they are both sexy and sophisticated – just like the lady wearing them!  We know she’s cool about her ex moving on, but we’d be upset if we lost any of her wardrobe pieces!gwen-stefani-13

Look-of-the-Day

It’s hard to believe Blake Lively is only 24 in this picture, because she constantly exudes elegance (even if she is always getting cast as the trashy girl these days…)  Here she is going to the Late Show with David Letterman this past summer.  Blake is sporting a Jenny Packham key-hole wrap dress with crystal detailing, accompanied with sparkling Christian Louboutin pumps and a loose, modern beehive.  Simply stunning, as always.  Too bad her wedding photos weren’t released to the public… we’d LOVE to see that gown!

Look-of-the-Day

On this rainy day in June, who better to feature on “Tuesday Twosome” than Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise walking in the same kind of weather?!  (Especially because we just pre-ordered Suri’s Burn Book by the ingenious Allie Hagan!)  Back in 2007, the pair were visiting Paris, when Tom Cruise was filming Valkyrie.  Katie is sporting a trench coat by Lanvin, a belted pastel dress, and Christian Louboutin peep-toe stilettos.  Suri is sporting a navy and white polka-dotted dress supposedly designed by her mother and matching Newborn Surfer Sandals, while her mother carries her baby blanket by Little Giraffe.  The two make one glamorous mother-daughter duo as they shop the streets of France.

Wednesday’s Shoe

This “Wednesday’s Shoe” is appropriately emerald green, in honor of the Emerald Isle!  This St. Patrick’s Day, you can look like one classy colleen in these babies!  Made by Christian Louboutin (if you hadn’t already figured that out by the red sole) these beautiful shoes are called “Volpi 150” heels.  They are made of satin and have crisscrossed fabric that creates a peep-toe.  Originally $700, you can find them at several online outlets for around $150-$170.  If you don’t want to invest in these kind of shoes for St. Patty’s Day, you can order some adorable shamrock chocolate heels instead!

Look-of-the-Day

“You’re not in America now, you’re in Ireland.  So have a drink and shut up,” Declan, played by Matthew Goode, tells Amy Adams’ character, Anna, in the 2010 film Leap Year.  The two play complete opposites who end up roaming the Irish countryside together so that Anna can propose to her boyfriend in Dublin on February 29th – the one day when it’s okay for a woman to ask a man to marry him in Ireland.  Inevitably, Anna ends up falling for her tour guide instead.  They end up making one sexy Irish couple, which is why we’ve chosen them for today’s “Tuesday Twosome.”  Here, Adams is wearing a Burberry trench coat with a green and white floral lining, tan Christian Louboutin pumps, and a mint green stitched top by Day Birger et Mikkelsen.  The soft color combination against Adams’ red hair and bright blue eyes creates one lovely outfit.  Her partner-in-crime, with a pretty gorgeous pair of blue eyes himself, Matthew Goode is sexy in brown pants, working class boots, a maroon-colored shirt and a dark peacoat from All Saints Spitalfields.  Matthew Goode actually thought Leap Year ended up being one of the worst films made in 2010, but he took the role so he could fly home to London on weekends!  Oh, well, we liked it!

Wednesday’s Shoe

How serendipitous that the outfit we featured on “Look-of-the-Day” today from a movie called Leap Year would have both pink clothing and a great shoe to feature!  This heel is worn by Amy Adams’ character in the film.  These tan leather peep-toe pumps are Christian Louboutin and called “City 120 Platform Sandals.”  They have a 4.5 inch heel and stitched paneling.  They now retail at $492 on Net-A-Porter.  Maybe they’ll bring you the luck of the Irish, too!

Look-of-the-Day

This is the perfect outfit to feature for a February 29th that falls on “Pink Wednesday” – an outfit from the movie Leap Year!  Normally, we save this film’s stylish looks for “Irish Week” prior to St. Patrick’s Day, but we have to celebrate a day that only comes around once every four years!  In this film, Amy Adams plays an uptight American named Anna Brady who attempts to travel to the Emerald Isle so she can get engaged on Leap Day – the one day it’s okay for a woman to propose to a man in Ireland.  Of course, a different Irish law comes into effect (one by the name of Murphy’s) and nothing goes as planned.  Here, she’s getting particularly irritated in a lovely outfit, probably not meant for the back roads of the Irish countryside.  Anna is sporting a floral blouse, a dark salmon pink cardigan adorned with flower buttons, and a high-waisted gray pencil skirt, all from Paul Smith.  She accessorizes the look with tan Christian Louboutin pumps, Louis Vuitton luggage, and a Burberry trench coat with a green and white floral lining she wears throughout the whole film.  Leap Day might throw Anna Brady’s love life out of whack, but at least it keeps her fashion choices and the calendar in sync!

Look-of-the-Day

There was a Valentine’s Day marathon of rom-coms running on every channel over the weekend (except probably SPIKE), and we caught this Sandra Bullock hit, The Proposal, last night.  Bullock plays a hard-as-nails New York book editor named Margaret Tate, and her assistant, Andrew, is played by the adorable Ryan Reynolds in this 2009 movie.  Margaret blackmails her poor secretary into marrying her, so she is not deported back to her native Canada.  Bullock wears this impeccably tailored black-pinstriped skirted suit and a pair of Christian Louboutin pumps while she announces the big wedding news to her bosses, and… Andrew!  He’s as surprised as they are, and forces his wicked employer to propose to him properly after leaving their meeting (pictured, below).  Costume designer Catherine Marie Thomas stated, “I was inspired to do this very structured ’40s silhouette because Margaret’s very uptight and regimented, and Sandy was thrilled.  So our departure point was the silhouette of the ’40s, as worn by Katharine Hepburn and Rosalind Russell.  Sandy’s got great legs so you can do a pencil skirt up to the knee, but we purposely made them longer so that she would be more nipped in and would have to alter the way she walked.”  The uptight Margaret Tate is about to meet her match in Andrew, who’s finally had enough of her crap, but the two start to realize there’s more to one another than they originally thought…

Look-of-the-Day

Here’s our golden girl, Rachel McAdams, in a plunging, ruched white Emilio Pucci mini-dress and black Christian Louboutin Pigalle heels at the New York premiere of The Time Traveler’s Wife in 2009.  Rachel’s porcelain skin looks untouched and flawless with pink accents, complementing her dark, smokey eyes quite nicely.  She evokes sexiness and sophistication to the Nth degree, as per usual.

Look-of-the-Day

Rachel McAdams – our editors’ favorite actress, environmentalist, “mean girl,” and Canadian (which says A LOT, considering the amount of fantasies they’ve had about Ryan Reynolds, Michael J. Fox, and Ryan Gosling) – looks stunning as always in this January 2010 photo shoot with Mario Testino for Vogue.  McAdams certainly makes porcelain skin sexy in this red and black silk floral bodysuit and pencil skirt with matching peep-toe, platform Christian Louboutin slingback stilettos.  This true beauty pulls off just about anything, but this has to be one of our all-time favorite photos of our gorgeous green girl!
