The movie may be called A Single Man, but we couldn’t take our eyes off the single woman in this 2009 film. (Okay, that’s a massive exaggeration, considering the extremely understated performance by Colin Firth, but Julianne Moore’s clothes were fun to look at.) This movie was directed by fashion icon Tom Ford, so it’s not surprising the fashion was phenomenal. He hired costume designer Arianne Phillips, who has styled Madonna for many years and was Oscar-nominated for Walk the Line. Moore plays Firth’s female friend, Charley, in this drama, and here she rocked a gorgeous black and white column dress that looked quite lovely against her swept-up red hair. Charley might be a completely tragic character, but at least she looks captivating in this 1960s frock.
